A town that outgrew its trees on a schedule
White House incorporated in 1971 and had 7,220 residents at the 2000 census. The 2020 count was 12,982 and the 2024 estimate is over 16,400. Almost every street here was platted after 1985, and the builders who laid them out planted the same short list every time: Callery pear, Leyland cypress, silver maple, red maple, the occasional blue spruce.
That is not a landscaping opinion, it is a timetable. A Bradford pear reaches the age where included bark and a crowded crown start shearing it apart at roughly twenty to twenty-five years. A Leyland cypress screen planted at the same time is right in the window where Seiridium canker takes out a run of them. Subdivisions built between 1990 and 2008 are now all sitting in that window at once, which is why one call on a street so often turns into three. This business exists because the planting was synchronised.
Why we ask which county you are in before we ask anything else
White House is one of the few Middle Tennessee cities genuinely divided by a county line, and it is not a technicality. Robertson County Schools runs White House Heritage High on Highway 76; Sumner County Schools runs White House High on Tyree Springs Road. Two systems, one town.
For stump work the line matters because the records and the local answers change with it. Quinn Drive, Carothers Way, Cheyenne Drive and Willowleaf Lane sit in Robertson. Christian Drive, Thoroughbred Way, Grayson Lane, Creekwood Drive and Oakdale Drive sit in Sumner. When we need a parcel boundary, a setback or an assessor record, knowing which side you are on saves a phone call and occasionally saves an argument about where your back line actually runs.
Stumps only, and what that buys you
We do not fell trees, we do not prune, and we do not sell you a clearing job on top of a stump job. The whole operation is built around grinding: a tow-behind machine for open lots with room to swing, and a tracked walk-behind that clears a thirty-six inch gate for the tight side yards in Indian Ridge, Holly Tree and the villa product out at Dorris Farm.
The upside of one trade is that the answers get specific. We know what a 30-inch silver maple takes on a flat Northwoods lot, what a run of dead Leylands does to a fence line, and what the Dickson fragipan eighteen to thirty-six inches down means for how a root system spreads sideways here instead of going deep. The downside is that we will occasionally tell you to call somebody else, and we would rather do that than take work we are not equipped for.
What the numbers usually look like
Small single stumps in this market run roughly $100 to $175 in 2026. Mid-size lands between $175 and $350, and a genuinely large hardwood with a spread flare can go from $350 to $700. There is a minimum service call, so a single small stump on its own is the worst value on the list, and per-stump pricing drops noticeably once the count passes two or three.
We do not quote ranges as a final answer. Send photographs, including one with a tape across the cut face and one showing the route in, and you get one number. That number holds unless what we find on site is materially different from what the pictures showed, and if it is, we stop and talk to you before we cut, not after.

Are you actually based in White House or driving up from Nashville?
Based here. Exit 108 is twenty-two miles north of downtown Nashville, and companies that quote from town have to price that commute into the job or refuse the small ones. Working from inside 37188 is why a two-stump back yard is worth our morning and why we can add a Portland or Cross Plains stop to an existing run without charging anybody for the mileage.
How long have you been doing this?
This is a new business and we say so on the reviews page rather than burying it. The trade experience behind it is not new, but the company name is, and nobody should have to work that out from a suspiciously round number of testimonials. Judge the quote, the questions we ask before booking, and the guarantee, because those are the things that exist today.
Do you work commercially or only for homeowners?
Both. Residential is most of the calendar, but HOA common ground, church and school property, and small commercial lots along 31W and Highway 76 are ordinary work. Commercial jobs usually need a certificate of insurance sent over before we book, so if your management company requires one, ask for it at the quote stage and it will be waiting.
What happens if you damage something?
We carry insurance, and more usefully we try hard not to need it: blankets up on anything that can be struck, gravel pulled back before the wheel touches it, and no machine on ground that will rut. If we break something we tell you the same day and we fix it. The failure mode worth guarding against is not honest damage, it is a crew that leaves without mentioning it.
Will you look at a stump before quoting?
For most jobs there is no need, and a site visit slows your booking down by days. Photographs of the cut face with a tape on it, the route in, and the gate if there is one, give us what we need. We do come out first on genuinely awkward work, such as a lake-lot slope or a stump wedged against a foundation, and there is no charge for that visit.
